As September Closes...

 

As September draws to a close, I am grateful for the tiny blessings amidst a world of uncertainty. It brought to mind the adage that 'health is the true wealth' as I watch my mother suffer ill-health. It's hard to think of anything other than her recovery. Each day, as we watch her fighting spirit to regain her health, we think of the times when three of our family members passed in their prime. Too young, too beautiful to die, yet so courageous in their trying times, they lived to leave a lasting impression.

Tiny Star slipped and fell off the clouds one day. Oh boy—what an adventure that turned out to be! He landed face down, burning a great big hole in the ground, and tumbled deep into Earth’s crust.

Nightingale and Owl saw everything. They trembled as the ground shook and spewed thick black clouds.

All the plants and animals of the forest were covered in soot and struggled to breathe. They heard Tiny’s cries for help... but who could save him?

Well, someone could. A mysterious black cloak of smoke circled Tiny and carried him away to the sea.

A couple of days ago, when I stood at the window of my bedroom, I witnessed a magnificent sunset. As always, sunsets and sunrises are a phenomenon to me.

The phrase "Eyes that follow the trail of the fire in the sky are filled with astronomical distractions" is a poetic way of describing a person's experience when gazing at the night sky.

It means that while a person is focused on a single, striking event, such as a meteor (the "fire in the sky"), their attention is simultaneously captured by countless other objects and phenomena of the universe. The "astronomical distractions" refer to the stars, planets, and galaxies that become visible as we look up at certain times of the day or night, mainly during sunrise and sunset. A person's focus on one specific, fleeting event leads them to become engrossed in the vastness and complexity of the cosmos.
