Goodbye Pope Francis, The People's Pope

Pope Francis, the people's pope, was a man who honored the poor, the children, and was devastated for those suffering from the ravages of war. It takes powerful men to incite war, and I believe that these men were the least of his worries. He was more compassionate about the innocents who suffered the consequences of their actions. Powerful men who love to go to war leave a carnage of tattered hearts and broken dreams, children amongst them.

I understood his desire for peace. In a tumultuous world, peace should never be compromised. There is never a gain in a situation that has brought upon war, as history has taught us. War stifles. Children suffer the most. They grow to be bitter adults.  We need our children to build a future for our world. As guardians, we have limited time and scope to nurture and care for them. If there are constant conflicts, are we not depriving them of what they deserve - to thrive peaceably amongst beauty as inheritance and not in dire neglect?

It is sad that in the pope's lifetime and in his role as the Shepherd of His flock, his call for peace in war-torn countries were never heeded. I am sure he died a sad man. I saw a video of him talking to a priest in Gaza. He called him every day to find out about the situation there. As I watched him, I felt that he had that urgent need to know that the priest and the people, irrespective of race and religion in the war torn area were still alive. He was an all-embracing, humble, religious leader. He didn't care for race, religion or color. He viewed everyone as a human and believed they had a right to be respected as one.

I see the world so disoriented today. People are fearful, displaced, and are searching for peace. Only when there is peace, will our world heal from the ravages of pain and suffering. Only when there is peace, will our children find the will to survive and grow to build great nations.

Our time is shortened by the lack of peace everywhere. Think about our children, and give them a chance to live their lives fully in peace.

Goodbye His Holiness. I'm sure you are in a better place now. Till we meet one day, rest in peace.

This title uses virtual voice narration
Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.

From the author of the award-winning story, Where the Rain Falls, comes another heartfelt epic, From Skopje to India.

A journey of love, culture, and discovery across continents unfolds.

I wished to touch the readers with a story that gripped them from the start. I wanted to talk about the displaced and vulnerable, but instead, in writing this story, I learned about the wistful hearts of people who yearned to live life the same as the upper class. The clear disparity lies between the lines of my story, and I only wish you could see them through my eyes - shobana

To Pope Francis

Your Holiness, I wish I had made it to the Vatican when you were there. However, I wasn't accorded the privilege. That's what it is, isn't it? A blessed privilege to be in your company. I shall always remember the smile on your face, even through pain, I somehow felt your pain more than saw it. I saw it etched across your face, though you tried to hide it with a smile, I knew. It was your labour of love that stood out even at the time. You were pained about so many things - like the children who suffered in this world of stain, the environment, the ceaseless wars, the catastrophes, the lack of love for a church you led - but then, what inspired me was that you embraced everyone just the same. Your words of caution have remained with me, and I will cherish them. You've touched lives across the Globe with your kindness and compassion. Were there times you cried because your load was too heavy to bear? I cried too, just as you did, and I felt helpless with the burdens upon my shoulders. I learned to smile through them just like you.

I shall miss you for the light you radiated throughout the world. You have been the torch of the Catholic faith. I pray that the fire of love and brightness never extinguish, and in return, may that flame illuminate the lives of everyone.

Via Dolorosa - Way of Sorrow

I attended the #Good Friday service and heard this beautiful hymn: the #sorrowful journey down the street called Via Dolorosa in Old Jerusalem.
J'ai assisté à la messe du Vendredi saint et j'ai entendu ce magnifique hymne : le douloureux voyage sur la Via Dolorosa, dans le vieux Jérusalem.

Via Dolorosa, which means "Way of Sorrow," is the route tracing Jesus’s final walk in the streets of old Jerusalem. The route He took from his trial and condemnation by Pilate to his crucifixion at Calvary, and marked by fourteen Stations of the Cross, commemorating his suffering, falls, and burial, forms a key Christian pilgrimage suffered by the Lord Jesus on Good Friday.

Via Dolorosa Lyrics.

Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The Man condemned to die on Calvary

He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And, He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death

Down the Via Dolorosa, called the Way of Suffering.
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way to the heart of Jerusalem.

Down the Via Dolorosa, called the Way of Suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.
