To Pope Francis

Your Holiness, I wish I had made it to the Vatican when you were there. However, I wasn't accorded the privilege. That's what it is, isn't it? A blessed privilege to be in your company. I shall always remember the smile on your face, even through pain, I somehow felt your pain more than saw it. I saw it etched across your face, though you tried to hide it with a smile, I knew. It was your labour of love that stood out even at the time. You were pained about so many things - like the children who suffered in this world of stain, the environment, the ceaseless wars, the catastrophes, the lack of love for a church you led - but then, what inspired me was that you embraced everyone just the same. Your words of caution have remained with me, and I will cherish them. You've touched lives across the Globe with your kindness and compassion. Were there times you cried because your load was too heavy to bear? I cried too, just as you did, and I felt helpless with the burdens upon my shoulders. I learned to smile through them just like you.

I shall miss you for the light you radiated throughout the world. You have been the torch of the Catholic faith. I pray that the fire of love and brightness never extinguish, and in return, may that flame illuminate the lives of everyone.
