I was thinking about the summer storms that I have been privy to so far. That first drizzle, then fat drops of heavy splats, falling voraciously on streets and pavements: drowning out the dust and grime and leaving a muddy patch when once dry. The scent of ozone, sherry-sweet and cream, cuts through the humid air to intoxicate senses afresh. Then, a flash of lightning rips across the dark-grey expanse of the sky, brief but blinding, followed by the mighty thunder's deafening roar that shakes the very ground beneath you.
The streets are now lined in silver. Just maybe with threads of white and gold. Gusts of wind blowing against torrential rain. These things I remember of summer.
And now, where I am - the heat bothers. As sweat drips, haze follows. A minute under the sun is enough to burn the skin. It's unbearable to say the least.
O wherefore art thou sherry-sweet and cream summer? I forgive you the shudders under the rain, and the lightning strikes that start fires. I wish for cooler days.
